Inaugural lecture in Bangor

On November 7, Grahame Davies delivered the inaugural Annual Lecture in the Translation in Context series at the University of Wales, Bangor. The lecture, 'Sleeping with the Enemy: from Chastity to Promiscuity in Cross-cultural Relations', developed the theme of an earlier article of that name, surveying attitudes towards literary translation in the Welsh context and also looking at the persistence of images of essentialism and antagonism in Welsh-language poetry.
