'Poems for R.S.' published.

At the Hay festival of Literature and the Arts on May 29, Grahame Davies took part in a gala reading featuring eleven poets responding to the work of R.S.Thomas, in his centenary year.

The occasion also saw the publication by Hay Festival Press of Poems for R.S. A Centenary Celebration, which features poems by each of the authors responding to poems by R.S. Thomas. The eleven poets are: Simon Armitage; Gillian Clarke, the National Poet of Wales; Damian Walford Davies; Grahame Davies; Menna Elfyn; Mererid Hopwood; Anna Lewis; Emyr Lewis; Glyn Maxwell; Eurig Salisbury and Owen Sheers.

R.S.Thomas (1913-2000) is widely regarded as one of the greatest English-language religious poets of the 20th Century and one of the greatest Welsh poets of his age. He was the subject of Grahame Davies's doctoral thesis in the 1990s and they met on several occasions.
