Premiere of Paul Mealor commission.

On July 19th, 2016, at St David's Hall, Cardiff, The Shadows of War, a new work by Paul Mealor with words by Grahame Davies was premiered as part of the centenary commemorations of the Battle of the Somme.

The piece was jointly commissioned by the Welsh Proms and the JAM on the Marsh Festival in Kent, and was performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Owain Arwel Hughes, CBE, with the Cardiff Polyphonic Choir and the Cardiff Ardwyn Singers. It was broadcast on Classic FM on August 2nd.
